BioInformatics Core

The INBRE bioinformatics core's mission is to increase UW's activity in computationally   based biomedical research. The core is supporting research in several departments on campus, including Molecular Biology, Computer Science, Botany, and Chemistry through the acquisition and support of a variety of software and hardware tools. We are developing a Web-based bioinformatics "toolbox" that will provide computational power and storage for researchers, and we have hired a service scientist whose job it will be to work with various units on campus to support and develop research and educational resources in bioinformatics in these and other disciplines. We also support Internet-based videoconferencing systems that provide communications among the institutions involved in the national INBRE project.
